Dunkbar presents the release of the Nike Dunk Low “Champs Colors” at Overkill

With the here presented Nike Dunk Low SP, Nike completes the “Team Tones Pack” That we discussed in another blogpost a couple weeks ago. It consists of three different colorways of the Dunk Low SP, as you all might know. After the „Brazil“ and the „University Red“ team tone Dunks, which are already released and also presented by us for Overkill, the so-called „Champs Colors“ Dunk will be launched on Wednesday, June 24th 2020 at Overkill in Berlin.

We have already spoken several times about the market launch of the Dunk in the blog posts mentioned above, but again, this time a look back is inevitable. The Dunks‘ color schemes for the market launch of the model in 1985 were based on the colors of America’s most important basketball universities. Those who are familiar with these historical facts could come up with the idea that the “Champs Colors” Dunk shown here is a tribute to the only college championship win of the Syracuse Orangemen in 2003. But far from it! Nike looks into the recent past and honors the quasi-reigning champion, the UVA Cavaliers from Virginia, who who you could call the reigning college champion due to the cancellation of this year’s championship round (March Madness) because of the Corona pandemic.

For this, the colors of the university were transferred onto the Dunk in a “two tone” style, which worked really well, because the shoe looks great. The base, also called underlay by some, shows a slightly darker orange than the „Syracuse“ Dunk, which can also be seen on the lining and the nylon tongue. The embroidered NIKE lettering on the dark blue heel tab also comes in orange. The overlays come in exactly this dark blue of the heel tab: the mudguard as well as the eyestay and the rear overlay including the Swoosh are “marine”, as the colorway is called. The laces and outsole complete the look, as does the white midsole and gold Nike stitching with Swoosh on the tongue. We are really curious to see the quality of the leather. We definitely hope that it is getting better, compared to some of the other Sportswear Dunks that came in 2020. In the pictures you get the impression that it might be quite soft. We’ll see.

Like the previous Dunks, the Nike Dunk Low SP “Champs Colors” can only be purchased at Overkill by winning in an online raffle. So check the Overkill Instagram account and the raffle post on the Overkillblog regularly to find out whether the purchase option is an online purchase or whether it is necessary to pick up the shoe in person in the store. Good luck to all “Rafflers”, because this colorway of the Nike Dunk Low SP is a really nice one.
