Who would have expected the Nike Dunk to make such a comeback? The model is currently not only on everyone’s lips but we can speak of a true hype. However, this has never played a major role for real collectors. The opposite was the case, because they were certainly happy that in particular prices for older versions of the Dunk dropped and became affordable. But those times are over. The Dunk is very much on trend and is currently experiencing real hype. Once again, celebrities are responsible for it, but also really good collaborations, which after many years of boredom finally delight the collectors again.
Such a good and really exciting collabo is rolling towards us at the end of this month. Rapper Travis Scott, who is usually working with Jordan Brand, has another Nike shoe coming and it is with our favorite child SB. Scott is definitely a clever move by Nike, because alongside Kanye West and Virgil Abloh, he is among the most powerful influencers in the sneaker game today. All the shoes he had his fingers on were a hit and an instant sold out. This is also undoubtedly to be expected to happen with the Dunk.
The result is a Nike SB Dunk Low with the color code Black/ Black/ Parachute Beige/ Petra Brown and the style code CT5053-001. The base of the shoe is divided into two. We see a toebox and the rear panel made of a tan-colored leather which could be nubuck and a side panel that shows a checked pattern. Heel tab and the Swooshes also seem to be made of this soft leather, whereby the heel tab is olive which is reminiscent of Travis Scott’s Jordan 6 and the Swooshes are black on the outside and pink on the inside. Label of the khaki tongue is branded with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Signature. The tongue itself is nice and thick, as it should be on an SB Dunk. The dark tones of the side panel goes very well with the color of the overlays. These are made of corduroy and have a dark blue pattern in the style of a bandana. This pattern can also be found on the insoles of the shoe. Very unique are the thick white rope laces that go very well with this Dunk. All of these design elements closely match Travis Scott’s grungy style. With the white midsole and the gum outsole, the SB Dunk SB Low Travis Scott finishes with a great overall look.
When Scott presented the shoe in his “JACKBOYS” video for the first time, people were already going nuts. Since then, various sizes of the shoe have surfaced and made their way to StockX where they go for 900 to 1300 Euros. You can expect that this Dunk will be another triumph for Nike and Travis Scott. The worldwide release is set for 29th February, 2020.
